Golf around the clock raises over £4,000 for Cancer
Research
- Platform and AToM in midsummer golf challenge
-
Platform, the intermediary lender of Britannia and
mortgage distribution and branded lending specialist, AToM,
recently joined forces to host a ‘golf around the clock’ challenge,
raising over £4,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The challenge took place on Monday 21st June – the longest day
of the year – at Mannings Heath Golf Course in Horsham*. The team,
made up of four participants from Platform and AToM, played four
rounds of golf, with no tea or lunchbreaks, kicking off at daybreak
at 5am and finishing at 7.45pm.
The team was involved in a number of calamities during the day,
including innumerable blobs (a golfing term to indicate that the
golfer is having a very bad round, being well over handicap) a case
of the suspected mumps (happily proved to be a false alarm); and a
potentially nasty meeting between a golf buggy, an AToM caddy and a
ditch! All’s well that ends well however, and this Midsummer’s golf
day ended on a bright note!
The dedicated golfers were:
- Dale Jannels, Sales & Marketing Director – AToM
- Rob Field, Sales Manager – AToM
- Richard Beardshaw, Regional Manager (South) – Platform
- Paul Isaacs, Corporate Relationship Manager - Platform
Dale Jannels, Sales & Marketing Director of AToM comments;
"We are delighted to donate this money to help fund just some of
the essential work of Cancer Research UK in its battle to conquer
cancer. Although the day was tiring and, apart from the little faux
pas with the golf buggy, the day was very successful."
