Platform scores winning goal for children's cancer charity
Platform, the intermediary lender of Britannia has
raised £4,740 for its official corporate charity CLIC Sargent
following its screening of England’s second round World Cup match
at the Café Royal, London and at Old Trafford, Manchester last
Thursday. The events were attended by over 200 mortgage brokers,
IFAs, packagers and members of the press.
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity which
provides individual support to children and young people with
cancer and leukaemia and their families.
As well as screening all of the action from England’s vital
second round encounter with World Cup minnows Trinidad &
Tobago, guests were also asked to predict the time of the first
goal, first player to score and the final result to win prizes. A
special charity auction was also held after the game which offered
lots that included England shirts signed by the entire World Cup
squad, individually signed player photographs and magnums of
champagne.
Paul Hunt, Platform’s Head of Marketing said: “These events were
a great success and raised vital funds for a hugely worthwhile
cause and I want to thank our guests for their very generous
donations throughout the evening. CLIC Sargent plays a hugely
important role in the ongoing fight against cancer in children and
the success of these events has put us well on course to hitting
and hopefully exceeding our target of £15,000 for the year.”
Vicki Hill, Corporate Account Manager, CLIC Sargent, said: ”The
support we have received from Britannia and its intermediary lender
Platform, has been brilliant. The money raised from this football
event will really make a difference to the lives of the 10 children
and young people, and their families, diagnosed with cancer or
leukaemia every 48 hours in the UK. For instance the money raised
could be used to fund specialist CLIC Sargent doctors, nurses and
play specialists, or could be used to fund much needed holidays for
the families of children being treated at hospitals around the
UK.”
Platform has also just issued the latest results from its online
Clickthinking survey which asked visitors to the Platform website
which team they felt would win this year’s football World Cup.
Brazil topped the poll with 42% followed by England (38%), Italy
(12%), Germany (2%), Other (6%).
